Starting with one client in 1984, Bilodeau, Wells & Company, P.C. has steadily grown with quality long-term clients. These include small single owner, to large multi-owner, multi-state, international businesses having sales in excess of $50 million. The firm has expertise in a wide variety of industries, including (but not limited to) manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, retail, construction and development, extractive industries, software development, and medical and dental practices. We are located in downtown Essex Junction in northwestern Vermont, about 10 miles from Lake Champlain. Our growing client base extends from the southern tip of Vermont to upstate New York and New Hampshire and Montreal, Quebec.

We have corporate and individual tax specialists, a CVA for business valuations, estate and retirement planning and compliance experts, QuickBooks© and Peachtree© trainers and a full staff of accounting, auditing and general practitioners. We also network with key insurance, legal and finance professionals in resolving your business problems. We have extensive experience structuring exit and expansion strategies and assist our clients in maximizing the sale of their businesses to public and private buyers. We also do international tax work for several US based multinational companies and deal regularly with US/Canada tax issues.

Bilodeau, Wells & Company, P.C. is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Vermont Society of Certified Public Accountants, which require strict adherence to quality control and financial reporting standards. As members of the AICPA, we are subject to quality review audits every three years, which we have passed without letters of comment. Bilodeau, Wells & Company, P.C. also maintains memberships in industry organizations such as Vermont Retail Association, National Home Builders Association and the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce.

We feel that one of the most beneficial services we provide clients is strategic planning. This is simply helping the owner or manager reach the expansion, retirement, or transition goals that they have set out for themselves and their company. We prepare "what if" scenarios for our clients, project how long it will take to achieve a particular goal, figure out how to finance it, calculate the payback and give an honest assessment of the likelihood of success. Some of these sessions are one-on-one and some involve outside directors and advisors or top management.

We distinguish ourselves from our peers by our advance tax planning. The only way to minimize the "bite" is to know what is going on with each client before major transactions take place. We pride ourselves on a "no surprises at tax-time" policy which creates a well planned cash flow for our clients and/or their businesses.
